🚨 What’s Actually Happening (It’s Bigger Than You Think)

This isn’t just an inconvenience.

This is the beginning of a transformation.

In the framework of the Hero’s Journey, this moment is called:

👉 The End of Normal

It’s the point where:

  • Your old way of operating no longer works
  • You can’t go back to how things were
  • And you’re being pushed (ready or not) into something new

🧭 The 3 Ways You Enter a Hero’s Journey

According to classic storytelling frameworks, transformation begins in three ways:

1. You’re Lured In

Something calls to you.
(An opportunity, a desire, a pull toward something new.)


2. You’re Carried Away (Today’s Episode) 🌪️

This is the cheat code breakdown moment.

Something changes that you didn’t choose:

  • A job shifts or disappears
  • A relationship changes overnight
  • A system stops working
  • New information changes everything

You didn’t opt in.

You got pulled in.


3. You Choose It Consciously

You decide to step into change:

  • Starting a business
  • Taking on a challenge
  • Making a major life move

💥 “Carried Away” = One Door Closes (For Good)

What defines this phase?

👉 You can’t go back.

Even if you wanted to.

Something has shifted—externally or internally—and the old way is no longer available to you.

This can look like:

  • A health diagnosis
  • Financial disruption
  • Layoffs or career pivots
  • Relationship changes
  • Outgrowing a role, identity, or life phase

Or even smaller (but still disruptive) things:

  • Your routine breaks
  • Your systems fail
  • Your environment changes

🧠 The Sneaky Version: Gradual “End of Normal”

Not all disruptions are dramatic.

Some are slow burns.

Like:

  • Outgrowing your job
  • Parenting evolving as your kids grow
  • Realizing your old strategies no longer work

Real-life example from this episode:

Parenting teenagers.

What worked before (rules + consequences) becomes:

  • Ineffective
  • Argumentative
  • Power struggles

Everything here is easy and predictable.

🟡 Middle Circle: Growth Zone

  • Uncomfortable
  • Requires new skills
  • Feels uncertain

👉 This is where you’re being called when things stop working.

🔴 Outer Circle: Scary Zone

  • Major disruption
  • Big, identity-level change
  • Feels overwhelming

🔑 Key Insight:

When a cheat code breaks…

👉 You are being pushed out of comfort and into growth

🛠️ How to Handle It Without Spiraling

Here are tools to help you move from frustration → power:

1. Awareness First

Name it:

👉 “This is an end of normal moment.”

That alone shifts you out of chaos and into clarity.


2. Ask the Growth Question

Instead of:

Why is this happening to me?

Ask:

Who is this asking me to become?


3. Use a Grounding Mantra

When things feel unstable, tell yourself:

👉 “I can handle whatever comes.”

Simple. Powerful. Regulating.


4. Shift Your Perspective (When You’re Stuck)

If you feel lost:

👉 “Help me see this differently.”

Sometimes you don’t need answers—
you need a new lens.


5. Get It Out of Your Head

Journal it.

Not performatively.
Not perfectly.

Just honestly.

Because:
👉 Clarity comes from expression, not overthinking

🔥 The Deeper Truth Most People Miss

Life is not meant to stay efficient forever.

Let that land.

Your cheat codes were never meant to last forever.

They were:

  • Training wheels
  • Bridges
  • Temporary systems for a previous version of you

And when they stop working?

👉 It’s not failure.
